Monica Cullinane, E-RYT-T500, Program director and teacher at The Academy of YogaMonica Cullinane, E-RYT-T500, Program director and teacher at The Academy of Yoga, has practiced yoga for 2 decades and has taught since 2001 in Grand Junction and New York. She is an Experienced 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher & Trainer with Yoga Alliance & Iyengar Yoga certified.

In 1998, Monica traveled to India to study with BKS Iyengar, Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar. She has studied at the International Iyengar Institutes in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Florence, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Los Angeles, Denver, and New York.

In 2000, she completed 6-1/2 weeks training in Australia. In 2001, after attending the Yoga Odyssey with Geeta Iyengar in Pasadena, CA, she came to Grand Junction for teacher training where she earned her 200-hour certificate. She returned to Grand Junction for training in 2003 and 2004. She and her husband purchased the Academy of Yoga in October 2003. Monica is always involved in the “yoga scene, 2” and she has attended workshops, conferences, and conventions all over the country. In May 2007 she attended the Teachers Convention with Geeta Iyengar in Las Vegas. She has studied for the past two decades with the most prominent yoga teachers in the world.

Now she teaches full time, leading retreats, classes, privates, specialty workshops and teacher training. Her teaching style is a distillation of her intensive studies, where she imparts to her students the wisdom gained through course work, practice and dedication.

Monica is also a Certified Health and Nutrition Coach, a graduate of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC, and is trained in all the different dietary theories, eastern and western nutrition, modern health issues, personal growth and development, and health counseling. Monica is also certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. With a private practice in Grand Junction since February 2010 called “Integrative Wellness Today” she works with clients in person, and over the phone or the internet, she also offers wellness workshops for corporations.

A loving mother of two children, she teaches health, nutrition, and yoga to fulfill her passion for helping people to live a healthier and happier life.
